This week's pen(s): Pelikan M205(s)

I go through phases (usually lasting a week or more) where I only use one particular (or pens) and that's it. Recently it was Lamy and Pilot pens. Right now, it's my two Pelikan M205 pens: one in red and a special edition demonstrator from 2006. I've had the clear Pelikan for almost five years now-- it was a Christmas gift from my mom. The fine nib on it now isn't the original nib. In fact, I think the original nib was a bit of a dud, as Pelikan seemed to have a slight quality-control problem back then. But this pen's had several nibs back then, including a gold one (technically an M400 nib) and various broad and double-broad nibs. That's one of the best thing about Pelikan pens, that you can change the nibs among the different models so easily.
I once let the pen get horribly stained by Noodler's Legal Lapis ink (whoops) but a trip to Richard Binder fixed that. Demonstrators are never fully clean anyway once they're used because ink gets into all sorts of weird places in a pen. The best you can do is clean it and hope for the best. This pen's been through a lot—the clip has nicks and dings, the cap band's plating is scratched or wearing off completely. The pen body is fairly scratched up while the piston knob has become loose once or twice. But it's my pen and I love it (along with the red M205, which is newer and just an opaque red version). I love Pelikans anyway but I especially love this pen. When I sold some pens recently, I went through my Pels to see which should go and which should stay. The clear Pelikan always stays.
